JhatpatOrder
An ordering platform for hotels and street food vendors, with an Android app that alerts the kitchen the moment an order arrives.
Android · React · Capacitor · Firebase
The idea
Hotels, cafés and street food stalls want customers to order quickly, but marketplace apps take a commission on every order and keep the customer relationship. JhatpatOrder gives each vendor their own ordering page, QR code and app — with no commission per order.
How it works
- Each vendor gets a separate workspace with its own menu, orders, staff logins and shareable QR code.
- Customers scan the QR code at the table or counter and order from their phone's browser — no download needed.
- The vendor's Android app receives a push notification for every new order. Tapping it opens that exact order.
- Orders move through new, preparing and ready, visible to the kitchen and the front counter at the same time.
Notifications that open the right screen
We send data-only Firebase Cloud Messaging payloads, so the app — not the operating system — decides what happens when a notification arrives or is tapped. That means a tap always lands on the right order, whether the app was open, in the background or closed.
Working through a strict hosting firewall
The API runs on standard web hosting protected by a web application firewall that blocked some normal app requests. We redesigned the request format and routes so genuine app traffic always gets through, without weakening the server's protection.
Google Play launch
We prepared the full Play Store release: app icon and feature graphic, store listing, a review of the Android manifest and permissions, and the Data Safety form.
